To film this scene, we used the school toilets as it was easily accessible for us. First, Verity had to smudge her make up to appear as if she has been crying. This was done by putting mascara on then rubbing her eyes to get the desired effect.
Next, we filmed some match on action shots using the go pro. We thought that using the go pro was effective as it created a 'fish eye' effect which distorted the background and was focused on Verity. These clips were carefully edited together using final cut pro to ensure that it was match on action.
The last scene consists of her writing 'Happy birthday to me' in the mirror to symbolize how lonely she is compared to the year before. We decided to use a red lipstick so that it stood out and had a strong contrast.
Overall, I felt that this filming session was successful because we used a different location and we incorporated a go-pro which we used for match-on-action. The go-pro created a 'fisheye' effect, giving us a different effect for our teaser trailer.
