Source of Inspiration- Dexter

Dexter is a TV crime drama about a police forensics expert who is a secret serial killer of criminals he believes have escaped justice.

The title Dexter is in a bold red font which suggests that the main character Dexter is of a great significance. The main title also has blood spattered on it conveying the sense of murder and danger and also that the main character maybe the killer.

The title credits are also bold and red showing that there will be crime throughout the series. The over the shoulder shot shows a blurry outline of a figure, this suggests the idea of mystery and secrets which is a common convention of a crime drama.

There is a close up shot of the sink where drops of blood fall in slow motion caused by a cut of his face, the fact that the character is doing something innocent and yet the blood makes the shot much more sinister which is very effective.

The next shot is of an orange being cut in half in slow motion from a sharp serrated knife. The orange represents the innocence of the victims and the knife represents the murderer, the slow motion conveys the idea of the murders being brutal.

The next shot of the close up of his knuckles tightening his shoe laces proposes the image of his physical strong, this is because his hands looks as though he is being to fight, furthermore the idea of strength may also suggest his involvement with violence.

As his face is being covered up by a white t-shirt, it brings across the indication that he is masked and hidden and also that he is mysterious. The white from the t-shirt shows the pure and innocent side to his other personality.

The last shot is of Dexter with half of his face in the dark and the other in the light, this shows is good and bad side and portrayed through the Chiaroscuro lighting.
The non-diegetic music is up-beat and innocent which is because he is trying hide his dark side.
